ZETA Announcements:
ZETA wins grand award for Green Builder Magazine's 2009 Home of the Year
"If you could name a theme for this year's awards program, it would be
Raising the Bar. That phrase is wildly overused, but it so aptly
describes what the four winners of this year's competition accomplished
with their entries. When you read the stories about how they
accomplished their goals, you will think, as I do, how quickly this
industry is going to set net zero energy as the baseline for all
housing— without needing a government mandate to do so. Our grand
winner, ZETA Communities, didn't just nail energy efficiency (though it
did that handily with a 100% photovoltaic net zero energy townhouse),
but it also excelled at a host of other sustainable categories,
pleasing the judges with its live/work, high-density design."

ZETA in the News:
Wall Street Journal Announces Net Zero Energy Housing
"The green building movement is targeting a goal once thought virtually
unattainable: zero net energy use. While the trend is nascent, dozens
of "net zero" and "near net zero" developments -- projects designed to
use only about as much power from the public grid as they can save or
produce on their own -- have sprung up across the U.S. over the past
five years. In Berkeley, Calif., ZETA Communities Inc. plans to build a
30-unit net-zero apartment building after opening a factory that can
construct 400 to 500 prefabricated net-zero homes a year. Behind the
push is the fact that buildings are a major consumer of power,
accounting for an estimated 40% of energy usage in the U.S."
