ZETA provided a solution for the Tierra Pacifica Charter School's urgent need for additional classroom space. ZETA built this 960 square foot classroom, designed by VUMA, in 2 weeks. The classroom will provide a sustainable and healthy building to foster the school's mission of environmental stweardship. VUMA's design is based on maximizing the opportunity for incorporating sustainable materials to achieve learning-rich environments at a competitive price. The design includes no VOC paint and air filtration for high indoor air quality, a minimum of R-30 walls and R-50 roofs for energy efficiency, tubular skylights with dampers and clerestory windows for natural lighting, and a high efficiency radiant heating system for thermal comfort.
VUMA is currently in the process of developing a range of sustainable permanent buildings that will be built off-site by ZETA and pre-approved by DSA (Division of State Architect). This will enable school districts throughout California to rapidly acquire and install these high performance and affordable school structures. The repeatable VUMA systems, available in varying configurations, are designed to exceed both CHPS and LEED standards. VUMA's designs incorporate the latest technologies in learning and construction with the single minded vision to provide an environment that enhances the learning experience. The modules are designed with a proven fabrication and installation team to maximize energy efficiency, reduce overall project and occupancy costs, and incorporate sustainable materials and methods.
